House of Hope - The street shows the way
House of Hope is an immersive club concept in a church. People who have experienced homelessness first-hand will share their real-life stories, accompanied by DJ and producer Mees Dierdorp setting the mood with his compelling and distinctive sound. Protestant Church Netherlands (PKN), Homebass, Dominicus Amsterdam and Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), are joining forces to present to you: House of Hope.
The number of people who don’t have a home or homeland is growing. What does feeling at home mean to you? House of Hope is a spot for you to connect, to feel, to learn and above all: to dance. Let the street show you the way and discover what makes you feel like home.

Our storytellers
Dominicus Church Pastor Arjan Broers will introduce our storytellers: Chicha “The Drummer”, Grace Workala, Jacques Vedel Du Boisbaudry and Sonja Groot Obbink. These remarkable and inspiring people have experienced both the brutality of life on the street and the freedom of letting go of material possessions, schedules and status.
The club in a church
The artistic gathering will be held at the neo-gothic Dominicus Church in the heart of Amsterdam. Clubs and churches have more in common than you might think. Both scenes feel like a true ‘home’ for people, places where people find meaning, connection and warmth. The church as spiritual dance floor.
For who?
House of Hope is for music fans, nightcrawles, DJs and anyone seeking connection and more meaning in life, regardless of faith, origin, age or orientation. The event joins the movement #WijMakenPlek by also welcoming undocumented migrants, homeless people and others who often don’t have access to concerts or the dance floor.
While the spoken word will be in Dutch, the music will convey the message in a language that is universal and transcends words. We’ll look after both the soul and the body by serving free pancakes for everyone so you can keep on dancing.
